If this becomes official then two of Kamal's biggest films to date will release on the same day worldwide and lock horns. Sources say that Kamal will begin shooting for 'Project K' in mid July to mid August and that he charged the staggering rupees one hundred and fifty crores for the twenty odd days call sheet. But the Mahanati director’s idea was shot down by several Twitter users. In his tweets, Ashwin suggested that select Indian theatres can serve liquor to their audience to increase the number of ticket sales. The Nag Ashwin directorial is planned as a two-part release, with the first installment scheduled to hit theaters on January 12, 2024, coinciding with the festive occasion of Makar Sankranti.

Now there is another buzz that Kamal has signed on to play the main villain in Prabhas's scifi action film 'Project K' directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Ashwini Dutt. Red Giant Movies and Lyca Productions who are jointly bankrolling are reportedly planning to bring the much awaited blockbuster sequel to the screens worldwide on Pongal 2024. Right now Kamal is shooting for Shankar's 'Indian 2' which will be wrapped up in a couple of weeks time. The film went on to collect more than four hundred crores worldwide and proved that the thespian at 67 is still in the reckoning.
